Activities

Dom and I did venture off the resort a few times -- Dom went to golf a highly ranked course (a great deal as it is very hot and humid away from the water) and did a jet-ski ocean adventure (pickup down the beach but tecnically off the resort!) and I swam with the dolphins. (again, just a few feet away from resort boundaries, but I did leave the resort!).

There he is! First time on a jet-ski!
Sweet "baby" dolphin. Actually a 4 year old.

Fire dancers, they're not just in Minneapolis!

From fire dancers to modern-day singer, song-writers, the resort had, well one, evening activity if you were so inclined.

But overall this was my preferred spot!

It's been a LONG time

....but we did it, thanks to the support of Aunt Kate!

Dom and I headed to a lovely resort near Playa del Carmen and Cancun, Mexico called El Dorado Maroma.

SIX - yes SIX nights - of peaceful sleeping with only the waves to lull us to sleep.

A lovely beach, with even lovelier service, greeted us - and lulled us into a state of R&R...really good food, open bars, and lots of space gave us room to breath, relax, and miss our children...but not enough to go home early. More to come over the days!

Hello Mexico!

The Bond

Before you were conceived, I wanted you. Before you were born, I loved you. Before you were an hour old, I would die for you. You are my miracle.

Oh Baby!

A friend's baby shower called us to the suburbs of Chicago this past weekend ... and golf at a friend's country club sweetened the deal.

Sorry sweet Sophia - you were cut out of my one photo attempt at the art festival in downtown Hinsdale.

Rhys was in heaven with the big kids and their plethora of cool legos, Wi games, and Playmobile. And Claudia enjoyed the Star Wars battles, too - but she was most smitten by taking the dog for walks and jumping on the trampoline.

But while it was great seeing the children reconnect and, not to mention the fact that Rhys wants to move in with H and J -- and Dom was able to golf not once, but twice -- the real reason for the trip was so that my I could attend the baby shower and catch up with Dom's side of the friendship circle at the same time.

Since there is never enough time to do all we want in under 48 hours - we are heading back to Chicago in July for a city visit. And I hope to have a work trip that will bring me in - under the radar to see all my dearly loved friends! (That means you SheMoney, my loyal reader! Will email you some dates for work trips...).

Hoops

Rhys with his first basketball! Worthy of a video by a proud pop.

The neighborhood (yes, I think many days it is a slice of heaven to live here - the child-free and empty nesters, probably not so much!) now has two "public" hoops for the children. Hours were spent this weekend around the one just moved closest to us with all the friends getting in to the action.

From street hockey to lacrosse to baseball and soccer and scooters - the sporting efforts never seem to end. Until they do, and the children move on to hide and seek, animal games, chalk and running amok through lawns...I hope the children will look back fondly on this growing up experience.

I love this little boy - so very much! My heart is filled almost to breaking point as he navigates his world - both growing up and still wanting mama snuggles and proudly racing around wearing his Batman utility belt (a gift from Nanny) trying to catch up to the older kids.
