We enjoyed a quick visit from "Nanny" this week -- and on the agenda, an afternoon at the great children's play museum called The Magic House. And magic it is...from worm holes, to hidey staircases, water and tunnels, and a play village, everyone was kept busy and entertained. And, a bonus, no one got lost (for long).

Body Art

Rhys has discovered temporary tattoos. His first successful usage of one was yesterday after a visit from the fire department to his camp (btw: his teacher was very impressed with Rhys' knowledge about fire trucks - little did she know how much time we have spent learning about rescue vehicles).

Claudia was born with body art -- her hemangioma looked a bit like someone dropped a dollop of strawberry jelly on her foot. As the doctor had promised, it has all but disappeared - a natural temp. tattoo. We now think that Rhys was born with one too - his Harry Potter scar on his forehead.
Goodness knows why we make babies that not only look alike - but also have hemangiomas.

Dentist

Rhys had his first visit to the dentist today -- he was very brave after a great introduction by the hygienist. And no issues...even better news!

Last day of camp

Rhys finished up summer camp at Samuel Pre-K today...he had a great four weeks with his favorite teacher, Miss Pam, and her helpers (her tween nieces that R took a shine to).

It was a sad day for me as R isn't returning to this preschool in August. I will miss the parents I met there and the "fun" activities for adults -- and Rhys really enjoyed his teachers and friends. But, at the end of the day, it wasn't the best fit for his personality -- so we are going to a larger school that employs the Reggio Emilio approach (I have had to learn all sorts of theories trying to wade through the multitude of options available).

This Fourth of July we celebrated with an old-fashioned parade in Webster Groves. There were marching bands, floats (not as many as we would like), lots of "cool" cars, horses and even dogs. The rain stopped for long enough for us to enjoy the parade and get lots of treats (after the tween boys got to them).

Afterward, C had a much-needed nap and R was o ff to play tennis and swim in the pool with Dad -- who I am sure would rather have been napping. Three-day weekends are not what the used to be....sleep, sleep, sleep!
