Thirty something ...

Rhys and Dom went out of their way to make my birthday special on June 23. Rhys thoughtfully bought his mama a pedicure/manicure package and a yoga bag, and his dad chipped in for a massage. I wonder if they are trying to tell me something?
(I also received many other kind wishes, cards, and presents and I appreciate them all!)

Thanks family and friends for making my 36th birthday special. Next year, I am hoping for Wimbledon, however!

Happy Second Father's Day Dom

A bit late, but we are trying some work around solutions to fix our photo image storage problem. (If you own a Mac and can suggest a portable hard drive, please send me a link.)

Dom's golf game has suffered since the birth of our son. Sadly, he golfs now maybe twice a summer. This is from a man who used to golf at least three times a month before Rhys was born. Now, the closest he gets to the course is a stick in a local playground!

We think golf might be in Rhys's blood, however. His great grandmother Lillian was a champion golfer in Yorkshire - and Dom and his brother Mark are no slouches in that department. My side - well, my dad and brother like to golf. Me on the other hand? I may have some hidden talents, but golfing probably isn't one of them!

More reading

Book is now a favorite word...and rarely used in conjunction with "no". Praise Be!
P.S. We are having some technical difficulties. Our MacBook is filled with pictures and videos. (It is just too hard to delete our memories!) So, until then, we can't upload new images from our camera to the computer and then to the blog. I hope to have a solution in place this week - which may include a trip to the Apple store so I don't buy the wrong thing again. Then, we will return with Father's Day and Heather's Birthday pics!

What happened to our positive "Yes" little guy?

No, no, no, no....

Oh no!

Magic Ball

At Millie's first birthday party this weekend, she shared her magic ball with Rhys and a very fancy ball popping machine. In turn, he shared a few dance moves with the group, ate some blueberries and cheese, gave out one hug to Millie's cousin, and tried the angel food cake. (Let's hope he didn't share his drippy nose germs.)

Happy Birthday Millie!

Needs a Haircut

Oh, yes, we know he will hate this photo when he is older.

Rhys loves playing with my hair bands and it had been awhile since his last haircut -so we thought we could help get his hair out of his eyes.

(We think we are hilarious!)

Don't worry, we did get his haircut after that, and now he has wonderful boy haircut - minus the bowl.

Team Newberry

Rhys showed his support for the Newberry on Saturday before I headed off to represent the library at the Printer's Row Lit Fest in the balmy 55-degree weather (with drizzles). Dom wisely decided to keep Rhys at home this year due to the lovely Spring weather Chicago is enjoying. Maybe next year he will be able to wear his Newberry cap and spread the word to the toddler crew.

Melmo!

Both Rhys and Caroline were enamored with Elmo last weekend. Sesame Street must be brilliant. Rhys can only say a few words - and Melmo is one of them.

Following our time with Elmo, my friend Katy and I braved the "Do-Division" street festival with strollers. An experience that, let's say, was less than fun for us. There was a good kids area at this fest and Rhys enjoyed the actors on stilts. But, most of all, he loved the few bites of ice cream Katy fed him after we valiantly retreated to a small patio bakery.

I am sure Elmo would have something to say about that.
