Haircut number 2

Rhys' bangs were getting in the way at his Gymboree class - when he had to lean back in order to see, it seemed to be a clue that a haircut was in order. Dom and I took him on Friday afternoon to another local shop for a $10 kiddie cut. This one decided to take the straight across the bang approach, but all-in-all, not a bad haircut for the price.

LaCrosse Mansion

Dom, Rhys and I made a quick trip to LaCrosse, WI last weekend. What a lovely town.

We stayed at a restored Victorian Mansion on Cass Street - which is Mansion Street as far as we could tell. The folks at the lovely Bentley Wheeler Bed and Breakfast upgraded us to the Ballroom Suite when we checked in.

For anyone looking for a smaller town - but one with character, three colleges, and loads of shops and restaurants and even a children's musuem -check out LaCrosse. In terms of real estate, there was a gorgeous victorian for sale behind the Bentley-Wheeler - six bedrooms, coach house, new roof - listed at $329,000. WOW! (Buyer beware - you will need to gut the thing and put in about $150,000.)

Granted, it is colder up there and winter lasts about a month longer than in Chicago - but we liked it. However, for the time being we aren't going to be uprooting ourselves. Chicago - here we stay.

Loss

A wonderful person and one of our best friends died on Sunday. Words cannot express how much we will miss Pat.

Midshipman Rhys Oldham reporting for duty! Great Grandfather Rear Admiral Ronald Oldham might be proud - or maybe not. Let's hope he sends postcards from his post. We will miss him. Ahoy Matey!

On the road to recovery

Baths are not his favorite thing - he warms up to them, but doesn't jump in with enthusiasm (as evidenced by this face.) Oh, and good news for loyal readers ... Dom and Rhys are on the mend.
